Are Americans Losers?
While it doesn’t matter too much which old, white, brain-dead rightwinger zombie wins the US election — since nothing will change — the question is : who really lost the election?
Answer: the American people.
You can only blame yourselves. You lost because you are losers. It’s your national identity.
Some will point accusatory fingers at the media and the pollsters and their endless stream of misinformation, disinformation, and lies. “We wuz lied to”, they will complain and then turn on CNN to see what’s happening in the world.
Others will defend media idiocy and insist that the Russians undermined — or, in the case of a close Biden win — tried to undermine the election — or that Chinese or QAnon or Julian Assange from his prison cell or Aliens or the ProudBoys or Trump himself were working to that end. The MSM and the pollsters were right and Biden should have won big —big enough that no one could dispute the legitimacy of his election — except for subversion by all the usual suspects, none of them American except for Trump and his followers who are un-American.
One definition of a loser is someone who doesn’t learn from experience — and doesn’t take responsibility for his or her mistakes. It’s a chronic condition.
The American public has been lied to since the beginning of the Republic and the Revolution that was never really a revolution and the creation of a democracy that was never ever a democracy. Think: Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, the Ukraine. Russiagate. “Lady Liberty”? Pleeeeeaaasee!
American society has been shaped from the earliest days by religious zealotry of one kind or another, so politics is like religion: it is belief that matters — not facts. The mainstream media are churches that preach Scripture, with the pollsters, the choir. And God or the Gods unseen. The writers and editors at the NYT ascend to the pulpit to convince the faithful that there is life after death.
When I wrote my article on Medium.com, predicting that the US election would be in one way or another a dead heat or at least close enough — to be disputed — I got numerous responses from people, saying, no, no, there would be a landslide for Biden! They quoted articles from the NYT and WaPo and MSN and CNN — and, of course, Nate Silver and other pollsters.
Like quoting the Bible to disprove evolution. Trump is a dinosaur. But so is Biden.
How I am I qualified to predict elections? By getting it right more than Nate Silver..
How do I do that? I look at facts not belief. I am not smarter than other people. And it is pretty simple. To believe the MSM, you have to suspend “belief”. But willing suspension of disbelief is for art, not life.
Yes, the American people are losers.
